The IRS returned entire 2019 return1040 for signature(form 3531.) Can I then E-file it today, instead (no signature needed) ? Will I be penalized by not re-mailing?

After getting an extension I filed by mail on Oct15, 2019. Want to E-file since spouse away and can't sign until way after deadline. If I E-file will the IRS remember that I originally filed paper version on time or will I confuse them?

Sorry--you cannot e-file a 2019 tax return. E-filing is permanently closed for 2019 returns. The only way to file a 2019 return is by mail.
