Can I file electronically this year while I wait on the IRS to process my 2020 return? I "know" they received it, because they cashed my check. However, because of tax law changes related to unemployment income, they now owe me money (which I suspect is the reason for the delay).
If your 2020 AGI does not work to let you e-file your 2021 return then try using "zero"---if zero will not work then your 2021 return will have to be printed, signed and mailed.
Thank you. So, I may be stuck in an endless loop where the IRS never processes my return, then? 🙂
Question: Is submitting the AGI just a final step in the process, or is it something I have to do along the way (I can't remember, I only do this once a year)? I.e. Is it a question that TT will ask in the wrap-up phase?
If it won't accept either (my actual AGI, or $0/"zero"), then how do I file the paper return? Will TT prevent me from finalizing my return if it won't accept my AGI? (Example: last year, I processed with TT, printed and mailed. Will I still be able to do that, this year, even if there is an AGI "hang-up"?)
Thank you,
