What's your problem? There's really nothing you can do but wait for form 4684 to get updated.

It only says this when I try to e-file.  Otherwise, the form was updated on 2/27/2025 by turbotax.  Which i waited all month for.  Now it wont let me e-file.  It states my name is wong.  I try to type it but it just loops.

The software originally told me that Feb 20th, then the 27th it would be updated.   Found out it was delayed again but the software is not stating this.  Just get to keep trying on each friday until it works to e-file.

You can file the federal now and the state later. The 4684 is available for federal returns but not for all states. You can go ahead and file your federal. After it is accepted, you can file state returns when they are ready.

Some states haven’t responded to Intuit about conformity with the Federal Disaster Relief Act so we are blocking those state returns for now.

GA finally confirmed that they conform with Federal and GA will be live after this week's update (Friday expected available).

It is resolved for Nebraska.

Just have to back up to check your state return again to resolve.

If you have the error asking to remove your first name, remove it from the form leaving the box above the form filled i  and click contimue.  It will move forward.

@AmyC thank you for your information! Do you have any idea or information about when New York State will be conforming so I am able to file my NYS tax return. I've been getting this error message for the past three weeks with no change. Any information you can get would greatly help! Do you think its better at this point to just mail the NYS tax form or wait?

thanks!

I have no hotline to NY decision makers. I can tell you that e-file would be much better regardless of how long it takes. If you have to file an extension and file later, it is always worth it. So many things can go wrong with a paper file.

@AmyCIs there any idea when Maine will be updated? I'm running into the same issue and it will not let me file, I've been trying for weeks and get the same notice. I tried to efile the federal and it says success and then I get an error saying to try again.

The same thing happened to me.  You only need to try to efile on Fridays. The forms update on thursdays.   You can check your states website or call them to see when it will be updated.    Turbotax support over the phone told me this.

See the forms availability link below:

If the forms you are filing show as available, make sure you have updated your TurboTax Desktop prior to opening your return.
