Tax Year Prior to 2020: Spouse Dependent Checkbox is permanently checked. How do I uncheck this box?

I do NOT want to claim my spouse as a dependent, but the program will not allow me to uncheck the box "Can be claimed as a dependent on someone else's return" under Part IV ' Taxpayer/Spouse Information of my State return (Oregon).

How do I get the program to recognize I have UNCHECKED the box? It keeps rechecking itself when I click Continue to Review.

I am having a similar problem. Mine states that I am claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return. My spouse did not claim me as a dependent. I have tried everything I can come up with, but i am unable to move past this.

This issue may be able to be corrected within the My Info section of TurboTax. Click Edit next to the spouse's name, and there should be a question within this section asking whether or not someone else can claim the spouse as a dependent.

This issue will be resolved in a product update on April 26, 2019.  You may have to file a an extension for your state and federal tax returns;
