Tax Year Prior to 2020: Do i have to report the alimony i receive

Yes, alimony received is considered income for 2017 and must be reported.

Which column is it under this year(2019) as received- tax payor or spouse?

If you received the alimony, follow the steps below to enter it into to your return:

 

  1. Open (continue) your return in TurboTax.
  2. Inside TurboTax, search for alimony received and then select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you receive alimony or spousal support? and follow the onscreen instructions.
