Tax extension but with incorrect W2

My employer forgot to update my address change last June (NJ - NY), and sent me an incorrect W2 with only NJ state. They have told me to file a tax extension and they will need to amend my W2 and sent me a correct one in 4-6 weeks. However, the tax extension requires me to give an estimated refund or money owed, and I am not sure how to do that with incorrect W2.

You will need to estimate. The easiest thing to do is to estimate high enough that you know you've paid enough, then you won't end up owing interest etc.

Of course, in your case it sounds like you might have to do this with three returns--IRS, NJ, and NY :(
