Tax credits for new windows installed in 2022

I installed new windows and patio door in June which I paid 30% upfront the remaining 70% is not due till March 2024.  My question is do I have to take the credit this year or can I wait till next year or 2024?

Hi @jo88shar

This credit is claimed in the year you have the windows installed.  The credit is limited so the amount you have paid off does not matter in this case.

WHAT IS THE TAX CREDIT FOR WINDOW REPLACEMENT?

If you replaced your old windows with new energy-efficient windows, skylights, doors, or other qualifying items in 2022, you could be eligible to claim a windows tax credit of up to $600. Current energy tax credits for window replacement have been extended until December 31, 2032.
