Tax application for minor

My daughter and wife are on F2. Our (my wife and me),tax application for 2022 was accepted but my daughter was rejected. I want to know if we need to apply for our daughter separately? and when is the time to apply?

You should apply as soon as possible for an ITIN number for your daughter.  The Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) is a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service.  ITINs expire under certain circumstances.

You apply for an ITIN using Form W-7.

IRS Publication 1915 is your in depth resource for understanding ITINs.

We filled the W7 form but her application was rejected.

Did you received any notice from the IRS on why they rejected the ITIN application of your child?

You may be able to get the assistance of the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service at toll free (877) 777-4778.

These are IRS employees who work to resolve problems taxpayers are experiencing.

Please ask the Taxpayer Advocate representative to find out why your W-7 was rejected.

The Taxpayer Advocate Service has offices in every state.  You can look up offices in your state at:
