Did you try to file more than one tax return with the same online account? Which year tax return was this?
Is "someone" someone you know and may have tried to file a return for, or is "someone" a complete stranger that appeared out of nowhere?
My step brothers name somehow ended up on my tax returns! This was the only time I filed with turbo tax and I don't even think he was living in my mom's and stepdads at this time!
Did your step brother use your computer or device to file his returns back in 2015 (when the 2014 returns were due)?
Each turbotax online account can only be used by one person for one tax return (or a married couple for one joint return). If a return was started with one name, then changed over to be used by someone else, some remnants of the first name may remain. This could be caused by using the web site wrongly for two people's returns, or by accidentally logging into the wrong account if your web browser is set up to autofill user names and passwords.
If it is even possible to remove the name from those pages, you will need your tax data file, and a copy of turbotax for 2014 installed on your own computer. If you filed for free, the data file may be locked, and you may have to purchase the program to install on your computer. Contact customer support for help. Customer support hours are given below.
