T4A-NR

I am a US resident that sits on the Board of Canadian company.  I have a ITN and the Company issued me a T4A-NR showing the gross income paid to me and the income tax withheld.  Note, due to Covid, I spent no time working in Canada.  How do I enter this into Turbo Tax for my 2021 tax filing?

Please follow the steps below to enter foreign income:

  1. Click on Tax Home from the left side menu
  2. Click on Wages & Income from the main screen.
  3. Scroll down till you see "Less Common Income" Section. Within this section, there is an option for "Foreign Earned Income and Exclusion". You can enter all your information here.

Thanks.  I also had tax withheld.  Do I enter that in the foreign tax credit section?  Lastly, the T4A-NR is in Canadian dollars.  Is there a date that is commonly used to calculate the currency translation into US dollars.

Yes, you would enter your taxes withheld in the foreign tax credit section.

There is not a specific date, but here is the Yearly Average Table from the IRS to make your currency conversion.
