Suppose that you do not have a 1095 A and you have 1095 B instead

Assuming that you did have a 1095-B, would you need instructions on how to enter it?

You can use the steps below to enter Form 1095-B. Keep in mind, the actual form information is not needed.

To Enter 1095-B and verify coverage:

1. Go to the search bar in the top right and enter "1095-B"

2. Select "Jump to, 1095-B"

3. Proceed to answer the questions by following the directions below

4. Answer "We All Had Health Insurance Coverage All Year" or "I'll pick who had it and in which months" (whichever applies)

5. Answer "No" to "Was anyone enrolled in a plan from HealthCare.gov or another Marketplace in 2016?" (Unless someone was, employer coverage is not a marketplace plan)

6. It should then say "That's all we need on your 2016 coverage"

If you have a 1095-B, a form titled Health Coverage, the IRS does NOT need any details from this form. You can keep any 1095-B forms you get from your health insurance company or the government agency that sponsors your plan for your records. Follow the directions below to verify your coverage on your return.

It sounds like you have health insurance through the Marketplace.

If so, you will need to complete Form 8962 to reconcile your Premium Tax Credit.  This can potentially impact your income tax return.

Please see the link below for more information.
