Summer Internship in Texas but living in NJ

So I am an F-1 Graduate student studying in NJ but over the summer in 2018 I interned in a company in Texas and was paid wages in Texas.

I know that Texas has no state tax but I wanted to check if I needed to file for State Taxes in NJ? I did not make an income while I was residing in New Jersey.

Thanks in advance.

you must report the income in your state of residence.

normally, you have to file where you live (resident) and where you work (non-resident).   You pay the non-resident tax first and then take a credit for that tax on the resident tax return.  In this case, there is no credit because TX does not have an income tax

you have to report federal as well
