Submitted an Identity Theft Affidavit last year but didn't receive an IP Pin

Last year I submitted an Identity Theft Affidavit after I filed my taxes. Since then, I have been receiving letters from the IRS about how they need more time to look into the issue. It is now a new year and I'm in the process of getting my taxes done for 2021. I got to the question asking if I'm a victim of identity theft and to enter my IP PIN. What do I do if I haven't received an IP PIN yet? Should I wait for the IRS to send a CP01A Notice or just try to get my own IP PIN through their site? Thank you.

Try first to retrieve your ID PIN in case the IRS issued one and you did not receive a notice. Use Get an IP PIN online tool to retrieve your current IP PIN. If you don’t already have an account on IRS.gov, you will be asked to register for an account and validate your identity.

If you don't have a PIN you can get one.

Thank you! I created an account and they gave me an IP PIN.

However, I'm worried if this will create any kind of conflict? Hopefully they will piece everything together and it won't cause any problems.

If an IP PIN is rejected, your e-File is REJECTED.
