Stemulus round 3 letter unstaes our accual payment.

Our IRS letter form 6475 addressed to me states payment of $1400. We have an electronic IRS deposit on 3/12/21 for $2800. We filed a joint return last year (as always). I believe we got the correct amount, as last year AGI was under $150,000.  If I answer the Turbo Tax question "Does the amount you for the same as the letter?"  It will try to give us an additional $1400. I went to my IRS account online and it also says I got $1400.

So do I just say yes to the TT question, the amount is the same as the deposit?

Did you check your IRS account for EACH Social Security number?

If you say that one of you did not receive the $1400 ---- and you really did receive it --- your return will go under review.  The IRS knows if they sent you and your spouse the $1400 each.   They will reduce the refund that includes the $1400 you put on line 30, and your processing will be delayed--for how long we cannot predict.  So make sure you answer correctly.  If you received $2800 that is what you need to say.

Thank you, It took me 3 days to set up my IRS account to see the $1400. I did not want to spend another 3 days getting access to my wife's account.  I know for a fact we got $2800. I am just going to tell "Turbo Tax" that my letter says $2800 and we got what we should.

Turbo Tax assumes that if the letters do not match the amount received that the taxpayer was shorted and is owed money, TT does not allow for an error in the other direction that is, the letter understands the amount received.
