State payer IDs entered correctly on form 1099-R in the federal tax section of turbotax deluxe workstation version are incorrect on turbotax generated "Schedule IT WH" for Ohio. This is the case for Ohio when the state payer ID is longer than 8 digits. One example of this is for state payer ID "[removed]" appears correctly in the turbotax 1099-R form and appears incorrectly Ohio Schedule IT WH as "[removed]". It also appears incorrectly on the PDF version of Ohio Schedule IT WH. Today, I spent a long time on the phone with turbotax customer service trying several things to correct this but nothing worked. I even uninstalled turbo tax, rebooted the computer and reinstalled turbo tax. I see this as a software issue in turbotax in that it does not correctly handle the 9 digit state payer ID and truncates it to 8 digits.
Yes, on testing this myself, I see you're correct that the State Payer's ID number field on Ohio Schedule IT WH only holds eight digits.
However, this will not affect your return accuracy, as long as the Federal ID number in that field is correct.
Often, the Federal and State IDs can be the same number, and if the State ID number is not shown on an income document (which happens frequently), the Federal ID number is substituted.
I believe that this is a programming error in turbotax created by an eight digit format in the format of the Ohio tax payers' ID in the Ohio tax Schedule IT WH. The program should be updated to allow a 9 digit format. Do you believe that this will be corrected in a future update?
Please note the text on OHIO 2024 Schedule of Withholding: "If the Ohio ID number on a statement has 9 digits, enter only the first 8 digits".
Also note that the form itself has only 8 boxes under "Employer’s Ohio ID number". So I doubt that TurboTax will "fix" it so long as the state form itself is at issue.
It is certainly peculiar. When I filed my Ohio state taxes using the state of Ohio department of taxation web site it generated a Schedule IT WH using all nine digits. Additionally two of my institution supplied1099's had 9 digit Ohio payer ID numbers.
I agree that it's peculiar that the state allows 9 digits for employer ID, but allows only 8 digits on the form.

Or more likely, some one decided that they needed 9 digits, but didn't leave enough time for every other department in the state to catch up.
