started working from Iowa for a California based company

Hello,

I started working for a California based company from Iowa remotely. Now, I just received two different W2 forms, one with IA in box number 15, and another one with CA in it. Both have different state wages.
Do I need to file my personal income tax for both states?

Thanks

If you worked in the state of California at any time during the year, that income would have been allocated to California but if you were not a California resident. you would have to file a nonresident California state tax return to report the income.  If you never worked in California but the W2 shows California tax was withheld, you would want to file a Nonresident California state return with zero California income to get the withholding refunded.
