Is someone legally blind or 65 or older?

2022 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS

SINGLE $12,950  (65 or older + $1750)

MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY $12,950  (65 or older + $1750)

MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $25,900  (65 or older + $1400 per spouse)

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD  $19,400  (65 or older +$1750)

Legally Blind + $1750

@frogbog  Either you made a typo or you read it wrong.  Not 29,500 but it's 25,900. Plus 1,400 for each spouse over 65 so.....

25,900+1,400+1,400=28,700

$25,900 -   standard for joint + an increase of $2800 if both are over 65 =28,700

$29,500 is wrong. you either read it wrong (transposed the 5 and 9) or its just bad info.
