Spouse lives/works in TX, I live/work in CO. MFJ. TT says CO is NR for me. Why nonresident when I lived there all year?

This gets a little complicated. The best thing to do is to file your federal return jointly and file your state return as Married Filing Separately (MFS). Your wife will not have to file a state return since there is no income tax in Texas. Here is much more detailed information on how you can do this in TurboTax:
