Spouse has no SSN or ITIN, how can I file?

You must first determine if your spouse instructions  from the IRS webstite. Send in the application with your joint tax return and your spouses identity and foreign status docments. (no copies) original only or they can be certified by the issuing country.  FYI it will take longer than 9-11 weeks due to the covid stuff. no one is there working.

You will need either a social security number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) for anyone listed on your tax return.
