Spouse does not know if she will itemize or not, and is getting an extension. Should I also file for an extension until I know what she did?

Yes, you should do so. If she itemizes on a married filing separate return, then you are required to do so as well. However, if you are filing as married filing jointly you only need to file one extension form.
