"Source income additions" and "Federal Adjustments for total income" ??

I moved to another State after 6 months last year.

When doing the second State taxes, TT is asking me 2 questions"

- Source income additions

- federal adjustments for total income

It pre-populates it both with  9 usd.

What does TT take the 9 usd from?

how can I verify this?

It depends on what state you are referring to, all states have different income additions and different adjustments.  We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question and give us more information?

How do I allocate (split) income for a part-year state return?

How do I file a part-year state return?

Check line 13 of your 1040 to see if you have a qualified business income deduction (QBID) of $9. Montana's Income Tax Simplification went into effect for 2024, so generally Montana taxable income should be the same as federal taxable income. Montana does not, however, offer the QBID so that amount has to be added back to get to your adjusted Montana taxable income.

This QBID could have flowed to you from various forms you may have reported on your tax return such as a Schedule K-1 or 1099-DIV. Most commonly, it's calculated based on net income from self employment.
