Social Security

I posted a question earlier: Yesterday I did my 2024 taxes using Turbotax and I think I goofed. When it said did my wife and I have any SSI income, I thought it meant "Supplemental Security Income" not social security benefits as in SSA. So I clicked "NO". Now I think I'll get into trouble with IRS. My return has already been e-filed... what can I do?

I forgot to mention that I didn't put in the income information from both mine and my wife SSA-1099 form because I thought you was asking if we had SSI as in "Supplemental Security Income" not social security benefits. What can I do?

You will have to wait for the IRS to either Accept or Reject your filed federal tax return.
If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again.
If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.
