So I understand...Turbo Tax is sending my return to the IRS; I pay with my credit card to the IRS or to Turbo Tax? OR do I download and make a copy of my return and send it to the IRS with my payment

You owe federal tax due?    The amount you owe to the IRS is on line 23 of your tax return.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.

e-file: you will get a message ACCEPTED or REJECTED from the IRS.

US Mail: you must go to the Post Office.

either way, you must pay your tax to the US Treasury.

You can pay online at the IRS website.
