Smart Check is saying that the Payer on my 1099-R has a foreign address, but address is in U.S. and I checked the box for U.S. address. I've double checked address

Instead of trying to edit the form in the Smart Check area, try editing the form in the Federal section of TurboTax.   Do a search for 1099-R and use the Jump to 1099-R link to be taken to your retirement income summary.   Click on Edit (or the pencil icon) next to the 1099-R form with the issue.   Make sure that the state code is correct for the zip code entered.   Once you make the edit, click on Review and/or Smart Check and the error message should go away.    There are some fields that are not editable in Smart Check mode, so you need to go to the actual form to make changes.

A domestic address which the program is trying to treat as a foreign one should be fixable by deleting it, then re-entering. If that doesn't work, demarest3, please re-post here…

I'm having a similar 1099-R, but not the exact same,  problem.  Smart Check says I need to enter the payer's address.  This 1099-R was downloaded from a brokerage located in another state, but Smart Check has already filled in MY state, and won't let me change it.  It's as if Smart Check is asking me to create a 1099 to send to the charity I've had the brokerage send the donation check to.

Any thoughts?
