Smart Check: Final Review error found

Hello,

I am looking at this error - see screenshot and somehow it did not transfer the info from last year.

It looks like on the forms this is where it is pointing to - Item Q Line 1 - how.   What is the number or info that needs to be entered here since it was not transferred?

From the screen shots you sent, it looks like it wants you to enter a number in the yellow box in the 2nd screen shot.

The instruction above that box states to "Enter the amount from your 2020 Schedule A Itemized Deductions"

for Line 5b "State and local taxes."

Refer to your 2020 Federal return, Schedule A, Line 5b, and enter that number in the yellow box.

You must have missed that question/section when doing your income.  You can enter the amount in the yellow box or go back to income 1099 Misc income section, first line is for state and local income.  Select the update button.  If you used Turbo tax last year then it will have the number and you verify if you itemized or not last year.  Good luck!

I am looking at Schedule A Line, Line 5B and is empty.  I am wondering if it did not transfer from the past 3 years.  It looks like Schedule A Line 5B for 2019 is also empty.

Hello TPeterson,

I used Turbo Tax last year and the past few years and i checked Schedule A Line 5B for 2020 and for 2019 and they are empty. WOndering if something did not transfer all these years.  But to correct it this year where do I find the number that I need to enter?

Sounds like you do itemized on your federal return.  You need to look at your state and local if any.  The figure it wants would be the refund, if any you received from state and local.  If you did not receive a refund then the amount is 0.

 No.  Your statement
"The figure it wants would be the refund, if any you received from state and local. If you did not receive a refund then the amount is 0."  This is incorrect.

The number it wants is what was reported on the person's 2020 tax return, Schedule A.
The line in question refers to property and other taxes.
Hopefully they have a paper or electronic copy of their 2020  Schedule A.  If not, then they need to check their records for what they would have entered on that line.

Hello @TPeterson

So the number it wants is the state refund for 2020 which was reported in the 1099-G correct?  If that is the case, this was entered and i do see an entry in this section see screenshot.

Notice that the screen shot in your most recent note is different than the screen shot in your original post.

The answer to your most recent question about the 1099-G

"the number it wants is the state refund for 2020 which was reported in the [2021] 1099-G" is correct.
