Simplified Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) in context of Foreign Tax Credit (FTC)

TurboTax is asking me if I have ever been eligible for or elected "Simplified Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT)" in the context of Foreign Tax Credit (FTC), in the past. I am unclear on how to find this.

I have filed all my taxes in TurboTax so I am surprised, TurboTax can't just detect this on its own or provide clear & concise instruction on how to figure this out. The instructions are there, but it is like reading the tax code.

I looked through the past 10 years of my tax return and I did not find a form 1116 - is that a sufficient indication? I saw mention of AMT in form 6251 in my previous returns but I am not sure what all that means and if it is relevant to FTC. Pls advise.
