Should I try the modified AGI that I found on form 8582? The one from line 38,form 1040 was rejected.

That won't help.
AGI mismatch is a common problem for many TurboTax e-Filers. The reason is a mystery. If you don't have at hand the self-select PIN you invented last year, you'll have to file on paper via US Mail.
