Should I claim 1 or 2 exemptions on my w-4. Im single no kids.

I am a government contractor. With the last contract, which lasted 5 years, I had 1 federal withholding on my pay stub the entire time. We just started the current one on 1 Sept 17 and I now have 2. I don't know what I did wrong on my W-4. I do not want to owe money at tax time. Should I change it?

Yes you should change it ... and to make up for the error claim zero allowances on line 5 for the rest of the year... then if you like the usual refund you used to get then change it to one allowance at the beginning of the year.
