Your Ohio modified adjusted gross income is not your total wages. Your Ohio modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) is your Ohio adjusted gross income (Ohio IT 1040, line 3) plus the business income deduction claimed on your Ohio return (found on Ohio Schedule A, line 11).

If you are not self-employed or entered a K-1 on your return, then you would just use your Ohio adjusted gross income.

To get your Ohio adjusted gross income prior to filing, please follow these steps:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click on Tax Tools.
  3. Click on Tools.
  4. Click on View Tax Summary under Other helpful links.
  5. Click on Ohio Tax Summary.
  6. Look for Ohio Adjusted Gross Income.

The school district usually taxes based on your state income. There is an alternative method of taxing using Earned Income. Please see page 4 Guide to Ohio's School District Income Tax - Ohio DOR to see if this describes your circumstances.

If this is the case and not carrying correctly,  you can fill this form out for someone to call you.
