says spouse's health coverage has lapsed, but it hasn't.

I cannot find any help at all in solving this problem: my husband WAS covered all year by health insurance. but the form insists he didn't and I can't figure out how to work around that or fix it.

In all likelihood, your spouse does not have an HSA, so he never went through the HSA interview to tell TurboTax that he had HDHP coverage, so TurboTax go confused and thought that maybe his coverage "lapsed". Sound familiar? If so, see the following:

  • If your spouse did not have an HSA in 2022, then answer NONE.
  • If your spouse had an HSA but did not contribute to HIS HSA in 2022, then answer NONE. (Remember that each of you can have an HSA).
  • If your spouse was covered by an HDHP policy for each month of 2022, then answer NONE.
