Return Rejected - Child claimed themselves

Return got rejected b/c child claimed themselves as independent. 

If I remove them the tax goes up $500. If I e-file, can I just pay the tax liability as if they were being claimed and then file an amended return, once the child files the amended return stating they can be claimed as a dependent. Or will I incur penalties/interest?

You have to mail your return since it can't be electronically filed.  Your child will need to file an amended return.  As for the tax, since you are claiming your child pay what is due with the dependent.
