Reporting student essay award without 1099-MISC (less than $600)

I won an essay award as a student, and the prize is less than $600 so I did not receive a 1099-misc.

How should I report this using turbotax? There seems no way to include this if I do not have a form 1099-misc.

Thank you!

Yes.

You have to report this income as Other Reportable Income.

In TurboTax Online, open your return and follow these steps:

  1. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages and Income
  2. Locate the Less Common Income section and click on the arrow on the right
  3. Click Start next to Miscellaneous Income at the bottom
  4. On the next page, click Start next to Other Reportable Income.
