@j9jam Did you ever figure this out? I got the same reject code today.
Mines doing the same thing. I don’t know what to do at this point
I just refiled without changing anything. My Federal has already been accepted. I've never had this problem pop up in years past. I believe this is a TT problem. When I went to correct the error today (17th) it told me what the error was and to come back today (17th) to fix it. But any links to fix it never came up.
Will update what happens on the refile.
Same here. It has been returned twice and I cannot find how to fix it. This sounds like another Turbo Tax issue...after last year with all the issues of getting my stimulus due to Turbo Tax issues I was hesitant to use Turbo Tax again.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this error. I don't see a way to fix it either - it just keeps circling back to the same point and then I get a "Looks all good" message. My federal was accepted and I've never had this issue in the past either.
I managed to fix my issue by going back to my fed return and itemizing my charitable deduction in the deductions and credits section, this change then carried over to the state return and I was able to submit mine successfully. My understanding is that you don't technically have to itemize if it's under a certain amount (I think $300?) but if you don't then the numbers don't flow over to the state return correctly. Hope this helps with anyone who has a similar issue!
I’m calling them! I filed twice and got the same dang reason! Will post when I found a reason why……
I didn’t itemize……I took the standard deduction! Any help there???
My teaching deduction was under the $300 threshold……no help there……
@Rave6510 I took standard as well. Got rejected yesterday. Just refiled today and made no changes.
Just got off the phone with Turbo Tax CS…..they said there was a form that wasn’t available until today, she told me to go ahead and re-file and it should go through…..🙏
This right here. I did the same thing - went back to federal and itemized my charitable deductions (less than $300).
I spoke with a TurboTax agent yesterday and that was the steps she had me walk through - said it was something new this year and that a lot of people were having issues. I just refiled this morning and got the alert that my state return had been accepted.
@amcw Did you take the standard deduction for Federal or did your own itemized deductions?
Standard deduction - my total charitable contributions were $100 - nothing I ever would have itemized in the past because it's not a huge amount. The TurboTax agent said it was something new this year with the way the system is pulling information.
Is this Turbo Taxs' way of having us pay for their services to have this corrected?
Or is this also happening to those that outside of the free service?
This issue has been resolved. Please try to file the return once more.
Please comment and let us know if you are still having issues.
hi! It has not worked for me and I do not see a new form to fill out? my returns have now been rejected twice over this. What form should I be looking for?
I had the same issue. This appears to be a Turbo Tax issue. I spoke to both Turbo Tax support and California FTB help. Turbo Tax support doesn't even seem to be aware of the issue, they were effectively useless. My state return was rejected 3 times even though Turbo Tax review can't saying it was 100% correct and error free (BS).
The error seems to be that the state does not allow the additional $600 cash deduction above the standard deduction allowed by federal. The way I fixed it was to go to "forms" view and check CA (540) schedule A. Go to part II, side 5 and manually input $600 in the subtraction column (B) line 11 (gift by cash or check). This will eliminate the $600 additional deduction when using the standard deduction on your federal return. California does not allow this deduction. Once this was done my return was accepted by the state of California. The lack of awareness and support by Turbo Tax regarding this issue is inexcusable.
Returns accepted last night. Looks like this has been corrected.
Please see the below TurboTax help article for instructions on switching to Forms Mode.
How do I switch to Forms Mode in the TurboTax for Windows software?
