Received a 1099-MISC for legals service, but no physical money for it. It is for a discounted service from a law firm if we desire to use it.

You may receive an IRS 1099-MISC reporting legal services paid in your behalf by your labor union.  Follow these steps.

  1. Down the left side of the screen, click Federal.
  2. Down the left side of the screen, click Income & expenses.
  3. Click the down arrow to the right of Other Common Income.
  4. Click to the right of Form 1099-Misc.
  5. At the page Does one of these uncommon situations apply?, click on None of these apply.
  6. At the page Did the xxx involve work that’s like your main job?, click on No.
  7. At the page Did the xxx involve an intent to earn money?, click on No.
  8. The income will be reported on 1040 Schedule 1 Part 1 line 8z Other income.

That is where it recorded it at, but it still wanted the address several times, the name of the payee, the payees six digit number, and how money was handled.

As long as the information is showing correctly on the form and is reported on the 1040 Schedule 1 Part 1line 8z as JamesG1 stated above you have got it entered correctly!
