Rebate Recover Question

Hello, this is my first time filing taxes. Since I never had to file taxes, I did not receive a stimulus check though I qualified technically because I am now independent, but in 2019, I wasn't. So will this be added into the 2020 regular tax form, or will it be a special form I would have to file somewhere else? Would it still be a simple tax return? Thank you for dealing with my involuntarily ignorance to taxes as I'm quite new to it.

Yes it will be on your tax return.

The first Stimulus Check is really based on your 2020 return we are filing in 2021.  So any amount you already got will be reconciled on your 2020 return line 30.  If you didn't get a Stimulus Check (and qualify) or you qualify for more it will be added to your 2020 return.  But the good news is if they paid you too much they won't take it back.

The software has not been updated for the 2nd stimulus payment yet.  Waiting on the IRS to finalize the Form 1040 instructions and calculations.

When you go through the federal review tab it will ask how much you got if any.  Or to enter your stimulus payment in TurboTax, type "stimulus" (without the quotes) in the Search box, then click the link that says "Jump to stimulus."
