Question on Farming Expense Section: Mulch

I am at the farm income section > Enter Farming Expenses of TurboTax.  I am presented with a series of text fields with different categories to enter my expense.  For example.  Chemicals, Feed Purchased, Fertilizers and Lime, etc.

I purchased a dozen bags of mulch for my pecan trees last year.  Where do I enter mulch?

I'm thinking any one of these categories?

Chemicals, Conservation Expenses, Feed Purchased, Fertilizers and Lime, Seeds and Plants.

Choose whatever category makes sense to you - or enter it under Other Miscellaneous Expenses with a custom description. Note: If you enter a general farming expense in the wrong category, it will not affect your taxes. Just be sure you don't enter the same expense twice.

In order to enter the full range of farm income and expense items, you should have either TurboTax Home & Business Desktop, or TurboTax Online Premium. Then, you can enter Schedule F.

Upgrading is a one-way street. Once you've upgraded, you can't downgrade back to your original version.

To upgrade Desktop, select Help at the top screen.

Follow these steps to upgrade to a different TurboTax Online product:

  1. Open your tax return if you haven't already.
  2. Select Switch Products from the left menu, then Upgrade.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions.
