Prior year tax return not saved on TurboTax online?

Hello there,

I've use TurboTax Desktop Premier every year for the last 4 years or so. I had a hard drive failure and lost all of my pdfs. Is there no way to recover any e-filed tax returns sent through TurboTax since it was done using the desktop app? I've looked through TT Online, and no files are shown. Same TT account has been used, and I can see the TT purchases on my Intuit account. Will I need to go through the IRS to get a copy at this point? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Keith

If you used desktop software downloaded/installed from a CD to your own computer, then the tax files are stored locally on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.  They are not stored online.  If you cannot recover them due to a hard drive failure, etc. you can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $30 an actual copy of your tax return.
