Premier edition 2020 using and was asked to pay $70 e-file payment!

The fee price as stated on Turbo Tax is $25 after the 1st free file.

However, when on my second return to file electronically, I chose to pay the $25 fee directly from my tax return.

Even though I did not choose "AUDIT DEFENSE", turbo tax put that on my filing fee thus charging me $70 dollars to file my state return.  Customer service was no help. Turbo tax has attempted to charge $25 in the past for the first state e-file. Now they are charging $70. Turbo tax must be overcharging thousands of people

as people just go ahead and click to file. I did not e-file for the price gauge of $70 and I will be looking into

what agency I should contact to report what I consider a SCAM. People beware when you e-file that Intuit will only charge a fee of $25.00 per their advertising statement.

Horrible customer service. Buyer Beware.

If you chose to pay that $25 state e-file fee from your federal refund you agreed to pay a $40 refund processing fee to have a third party bank take the  $25 fee out of your federal refund.   I agree-- it is not worth it----do not pay to e-file the state.  Just print it and mail it.

You must be in California.  That is to have the state efile fee 25 deducted from your federal refund. It is $40 or in California you have to add Premium for 45.  Or you can pay with a credit card to avoid the extra charge.

It said that on the screen.

And it has never been a free state efile.

In the Desktop program you get one free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns. Then each state return (including the first one) is $20 to efile, usually goes up to $25 March 1. Or you can print and mail state for free.
