Originally e-file both federal and state together. It would not file state. I have dumped state three times, it won't e-file as a separate file, it wants to e-file both.

need to e-file california state separate. originally selected e-file both federal and state, but it won't allow me to file california state separately.

To file your State separately, you will need to go to File, go to Step 3 and click Change Filing Method. There you can change your State filing method to, file later.
