TurboTax uses phone numbers for identity purposes so it may be looking for an old phone number you've previously entered. If it is not recognizing any of your current numbers, you will want to update the number. Here are the steps (from https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900724-how-do-i-update-my-turbotax-account-information:(
"To update your TurboTax (non-Advantage) account email, phone number, mailing address, or password:
When you return to the form to purchase after changing your number, it should recognize the new one.
Wrong. Obviously you didnt read the entire question. The number IS valid and the same one used for my account. Not that it matters because I am UNABLE to enter ANY data in the cell AT ALL. I can enter numerical and text data in every other cell on the purchase page, but nothing in the space for my number.
Also, auto fill correctly enters the correct info on the purchase page, including the correct phone number, but red text beneath the cell claims the number is invalid. It is valid. Its the correct number, and the correct number for the account.
Are you able to edit the phone number in that cell once it autofills? It's perhaps that the phone number is formatted inaccurately and the red box is because of the format, not the number itself.
Well, I dont know how to answer that, because in my two comments above I state: "... I am UNABLE to enter ANY data in the cell AT ALL...." that means no. Regardless of whether or not auto fill completes the form or not, no data, text or numerical, can be entered into the space for the phone info. Nothing in the space/cell for phone info on the purchase page can be edited in any way. How could the number be formatted incorrectly? There are not that many ways to format a 10 digit phone number. The fact is, nothing can be edited in that cell.
Thanks for explaining-- I didn't expect that you could edit the field but wanted to check to make sure. Some software requires formatting a number with or without dashes, as an example of what I meant.
