One of the first questions asked was about my dependent , Turbo tax said i would be getting 4,000 for him but that number went down at the end of filling

TurboTax said you got a $4000 tax break, meaning that's a deduction of $4000 from your income to reduce your taxable income and your tax liability. 

Its not a refunded amount.
