One of my w2's doesn't have an employers state id. the other one does.... can i use the same number or are they different on each w2?

You should call the employer and ask for the number .... but ....

On the W-2 for the one missing the state ID# ... use the federal one on that form ... do not use the other W-2 state ID # as they are employer specific.
