On the Marketplace (HealthCare and on form 1095-A) one parent was posted as my dependent. Do I have to claim them as dependent on income tax as well?

the parent is losing their EIC credit if she files that someone can claim her as dependent. so i was wondering if it's possible for the parent to file it without being claimed as dependent? does it have to match with marketplace health insurance application?

No, you are not required to claim them as a dependent on your return.

You are able to share a Marketplace policy with any of the following people who aren't on your taxes:

  • Someone with whom you share custody of a child
  • A former spouse
  • A person who now claims your child as a dependent on their taxes
  • A person you used to live and file taxes with
  • A parent or an adult child

When this occurs you must allocate the policy amounts. The allocation you choose depends on who you share your Marketplace policy with.
