On the 1099-G, it keeps saying "Needs Review" but nothing is incorrect.. How can I get past this?

Are you collecting unemployment from the state of Michigan? A number of users have reported receiving 1099-Gs with a value in box 11 (state tax withheld) but either box 10a or 10b or both being blank.

If this is your situation, then box 10a is probably "MI" for Michigan, but we in the Community do not know the state filer ID should be. I encourage you to contact the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency and ask them what value belongs in box 10b.

I can't past 1099G it keeps saying review.  I review and there is nothing wrong.  We have two 1099Gs.  Your only answer has to do with MI but we are NY?  How can I get past this?

@Mabdwmfd

There are a couple of different 1099-G forms, so please follow the steps in this article to ensure that you are entering the information in the right section of TurboTax.

Or you may try these steps in TurboTax online:

  • Down the left side of the screen, click Federal.
  • Click on Wages & Income.
  • Under Your Income, click Unemployment and paid family leave (1099-G).
  • Click Edit/Add to the right.

Unemployment benefits are taxable on the Federal tax.  But some states make allowances for unemployment income received.
