On my W2 my employers EIN is only 8 numbers but the field is saying it has to be 9 numbers. what should I do?

Can you add a 0 to the end of your employers EIN to make it the required 9 digits?

No. Do not add a 0 in to make up for the 9th number. You will need to contact your employer to have your W-2 corrected.  The employer's EIN should be in this format XX-XXXXXXX. Once you have received your corrected W-2 follow the instructions to to enter the corrected information in your tax return:
