On my W-2, box 12 I have AA and AA17, DD, D and D 17. What do I do with the AA17 and D 17? Do I add them to the AA and D?

You need to input all of them. This box takes multiple entries, it is designed to collect all the information on your w2.

Yes.   Leave the "17" off.  That is only information  that the 2018 deferrals were for the 2017 plan year.

What if the D17 amount causes D to exceed maximum allowable for 18?
