Ohio City taxes and Self Employment

Hello!

I am freelance contractor.  I work with an online company called Upwork which is headquartered in Georgia I believe.  I live in Ohio.  Can anyone tell me if I am required to pay city taxes?  I am working at home in the city but my company isn't located here.  I assume I do but I wanted to check since this is my first year being self-employed.  Thank you in advance!

Yes, in general if you are self employed and work from your home in an Ohio municipality that has an income tax, you are required to pay the tax.  Please let me know the city and I can check the specifics for you- each city has its own requirements.  For example,  Akron requires quarterly payments and will penalize if you are late with the payments; Bradford requires all citizens over 18 to file, even if they did not work (with exceptions of course).
