Notice of Assessment for TY2021

I had my 2021 tax done by a tax preparer in March 2022. In August 2024, I received a notice of assessment stating that the state tax for 2021 were not filed. The tax preparer refused to communicate nor provide any records for year 2021. How can I go about this issue?

One option is to download the TurboTax Desktop program for 2021.  You will have re-create your 2021 federal return by entering the information so it can flow down to the state return.  You will then be able to print and mail the state return along with a copy of the notice to reply to the notice.  It's important to reply to it in a timely manner in case they are assesing penalties and interest on any balance that may be due.
