No filing instructions included with my return?

I did not get any filing instructions when I downloaded by tax returns.

How can I get the instructions to print.

This is a known problem and the Filing Instructions should be available in the PDF download on 02/22/2025.

It doesn't seem to be fixed. I just tried printing my return again and there are no mailing instructions included.

Correct.  I just touched base with one of the TurboTax Moderators of this forum and they verified that the Filing Instructions still are not available for the online editions.  They stated the problem is still being worked on but no date for resolution has been issued.

Do you need mailing addresses for a federal and state return?  If so, I can provide that for you.

I'm having the same issue with TurboTax Deluxe online. Its easy enough to get mailing address, but I would like to know exactly which documents to exclude and include with the mailing. I'm sure that each state is different, and the generic AI advice is to send everything, which I'm sure is not true. See the TurboTax help AI response below. Many of these forms have "keep for your records" printed on them.

When mailing your tax return, you should include the following forms:

  1. W-2 Forms: Required for each job you held, reporting your wages and tax withheld.
  2. 1099 Forms: Include any relevant 1099s, such as:
    • 1099-INT for interest income
    • 1099-DIV for dividends
    • 1099-MISC for miscellaneous income
    • 1099-NEC for nonemployee compensation
  3. 1098 Forms: If applicable, include forms like:
    • 1098 for mortgage interest
    • 1098-T for tuition payments
    • 1098-E for student loan interest
  4. Other Relevant Forms: Any additional forms that report income or deductions, such as 1099-R for retirement distributions.

Yes, I am from NJ and I just wanted to verify that I would be sending it to the correct address.

I found the address below on the IRS website.

Internal Revenue Service
P.O. Box 931000
Louisville, KY 40293-1000

Do you include any other documents like a copy of the 1099. or just send the 1040 form.

Yes, this address is correct for the federal tax return if you are enclosing a payment for federal taxes owed -

Internal Revenue Service
P.O. Box 931000
Louisville, KY 40293-1000

You have to sign and date the Form 1040 on page 2.  If you are married and filing jointly then your spouse also has to sign the Form1040.

Include with the mailed federal tax return all forms W-2 and 1099 that you received which have taxes withheld on the form.

Additionally, if any other forms or schedules were included in the printout they all need to be included with the mailed tax return.  But Only if they have an Attachment Sequence Number on the form or schedule.

Only the federal tax return is mailed to the address above, Not any state tax return.
