Newlyweds in August with a child and wondering if we should file jointly or separate for the 22 tax year?

Congratulations on your marriage! You would want to file joint return unless there were some past tax debt issues or tax liens, etc from one of you prior to marriage that you would not want the IRS or state to claim against any refunds.
